Solar Energy Glossary: Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)

The authority Having Jurisdiction is the building department that is responsible for permitting and inspecting improvements to property. Most solar energy products require the approval of the building department and require a permitting process through the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
