In this particular case, the system was mounted with Unirac 2-piece standoffs. The tile is cut without removal and the discoloration you see is mortar used to refill the void created by the hole cut. There are several other methods for tile roof installation including various flashings, double flashings, and tile hooks. All have advantages and disadvantages.
Hello, I read your blog often. Thanks for the great writing, info and expertise. How did you anchor the mounting system through the tile roof? I see the discoloration on the outside tiles, Wondering if you had to remove the tile to get to the bottom.
