“My Enphase system isn’t showing any data.”
Translation? The IQ Gateway (aka the data monitor) is offline.
Your Enphase Enlighten app may be reporting an Error or a Warning. It may say “Gateway Not Reporting.”
This doesn’t always mean your solar system has stopped producing power. In fact, in most cases, your system is working just fine, but the data isn’t making it to the Enphase app. Before you panic or schedule a service call, here’s a breakdown of what causes this issue and what you can do about it.
What Is the Enphase IQ Gateway?
The IQ Gateway is the communication hub of your Enphase microinverter system. It gathers data from each microinverter and pushes it to the Enphase cloud so you can see your system performance in the Enlighten app. If the Gateway is offline, you lose visibility, not necessarily power production.
The Gateway is most commonly located in the IQ Combiner box, which looks like this for most IQ microinverter systems:
If you have an older system, the box might look different. If your system is large, your Gateway might be enclosed in a PVC box located somewhere near your electrical equipment. Or you may have an old oval-shaped device that plugs into your outlet, in which case you should just call us, because these instructions may not apply.
⚠️ Most Common Reasons the Enphase Gateway Goes Offline
In this video, we explain what might be going on and what you can do. If you prefer to skip the video, read on for assistance.
1. Wi-Fi Disconnected (Most Common Cause)
This is by far the most frequent issue. The Gateway uses your home’s Wi-Fi to send data to the cloud. If your Wi-Fi credentials changed — like a new router, new provider, password update, or even a temporary internet outage — the Gateway will stop reporting.
What to do:
- Reconnect your Gateway using Enphase’s guide: How to Reconnect Your Enphase Gateway to Wi-Fi
- Or call Enphase directly at (877) 797-4743 — they offer 24/7 support.
2. The Gateway Itself Failed
The Enphase IQ Gateway is a consumer-grade electronic device, and like any electronics, it can eventually fail. It’s covered under a 5-year warranty, but we’ve seen them die early.
Red flag: If your IQ Gateway is blinking four red lights continuously, that’s usually a hardware failure.
What to do: Skip the DIY stuff and give us a call. It’ll likely need to be replaced. We will need to do a service call to go through diagnostics and contact Enphase on your behalf to obtain warranty parts.
3. No Power to the Gateway
This could be as simple as a tripped breaker or as complex as a wiring fault. The IQ Gateway gets power through your IQ Combiner or a dedicated circuit.
What to do:
- Open your combiner panel.
- Look for any breakers in the OFF or TRIPPED position.
- Flip tripped breakers fully OFF, then ON again.
⚠️ Important: If the breaker won’t stay on, stop there. You likely have a fault that needs professional help.
4. Your Entire Solar System Is Down
If the Gateway has no lights at all, you might have a total power loss — not just a communication issue.
What to do:
- Check all system-related breakers (main panel and combiner).
- If nothing’s obviously off and there are still no lights, contact us.
Why It Matters
Your system could be producing power just fine, but without the Gateway online, you have no way to track or confirm production. And if there is a bigger issue causing the communication failure, you’re flying blind.
